This version of our policy is effective 30 October 2012. We update this policy from time to time. We take information privacy very seriously, and we comply with our obligations under applicable privacy legislation.
We may collect personal information by various means in the course of our operations. In particular, we collect information from users when they register with us. We may also collect personal information from contractors and business partners. Finally, we may collect technical information arising from use of our site, including internet addresses and cookies which provide us with information about use of the site.
Users can deactivate or delete their account using the tools on our website. Account deactivation temporarily prevents content provided by a user from being visible to other users. Account deletion permanently and irrevocably prevents content and user profile information from being visible or retrievable. On deletion of an account, information is removed from direct internet access and user recovery immediately, but it may take up to 90 days for content to be permanently deleted from our systems and backups following account deletion.
Users wishing to delete accounts may first wish to try deactivation. Where an account is deactivated but not deleted, content remains on our systems (albeit inaccessible to others) in case of a change of mind, or a need for the user him- or herself to access the content again.
You can deactivate your account by logging in to your profile and clicking on Settings.
We use appropriate software and tools (encryption, passwords and physical security) to protect the confidentiality of the personal information we collect. While our approach significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised disclosure, we cannot and do not guarantee the security the personal information we collect. We have no liability to users or any other person as a result of any unauthorised disclosure.
Coconut Wave takes online safety of children very seriously. There is a minimum age limit of at least 13 years in order to use the site, and a minimum age of 18 for some site features. We use appropriate technical software and tools to track potential risks for children, and we do not hesitate to suspend or delete accounts, or to contact law enforcement authorities, where we determine that there may be a potential risk to our users. We encourage to parents and guardians to teach all children about safe internet practices.
Members are able to access, correct and update personal information which we hold about them. In accordance with applicable legislation, there may be a fee to cover our work-effort in providing access to detailed personal information we hold about you from our records.
